Saie Recycles

Transparency sits at the core of everything we do at Saie, so we’d like to be real with you here: Our nation’s recycling system is broken, and many items deemed “recyclable” will never actually be recycled. Everything we make at Saie is technically recyclable, but makeup components are often sorted incorrectly due to their small sizes and won’t make it into the recycling stream.

While recycling is a small step in the face of our planet’s climate crisis, we believe in a world where these small steps still matter, so we’ve found a recycling solution that really works

We’ve teamed up with Pact Collective to make recycling your difficult-to-recycle Saie empties super easy.

  • Clean Empties

Give your Saie empties a thorough clean-out. Make sure it is truly empty, as packages with product left inside won’t go on to get recycled

  • Fill out form

Once you have at least five empty products, fill out the form below to receive your prepaid shipping label

  • Ship them

Attach your shipping label to a box or envelope, and drop your package in the mail

  • Airset

    +

    What it is:

Airset is made of 35% PCR (post-consumer recycled plastic).

    Why we chose it:

Post Consumer Resin, also known as PCR, is plastic that's been repurposed for use again. Using PCR helps to reduce the amount of new plastic packaging. Products that use PCR drive the demand of the material, which in turn increases its overall use across different industries.

    How to recycle:

Once your Airset jar is empty, remove the sifter and wipe away any remaining product from the jar and sifter. Place the clean sifter, cap and jar in your home recycling bin

All of our secondary cartons are made from 100% post-consumer waste and FSC-certified paper. Simply toss the carton in your home recycling bin.

  • Brow Butter

    +

    What it is:

Our cap and vial are made of 40% PCR (Post Consumer Resin).

    Why we chose it:

Post Consumer Resin, also known as PCR, is plastic that's been repurposed for use again. Using PCR helps to reduce the amount of new plastic packaging and drives the demand of the material. Right now, our spoolie isn't recyclable as it's made of a different material, but we're working towards a more sustainable option for the future.

    How to recycle:

Once you’re finished with Brow Butter, clean out the tube. Trim off the spoolie and throw in the trash—this piece is not yet recyclable. Recycle the clean tube, rod and cap in via Pact Collective: Click here to return by mail. Click here to return via local drop off– this option is more eco-friendly!

All of our secondary cartons are made from 100% post-consumer waste and FSC-certified paper. Simply toss the carton in your home recycling bin.

  • Dew Blush

    +

    What it is:

Our vial is made of 40% PCR (Post Consumer Recycled Plastic).

    Why we chose it:

Post Consumer Resin, also known as PCR, is plastic that's been repurposed for use again. Using PCR helps to reduce the amount of new plastic packaging and drives the demand of the material. In turn, this increases the overall use of PCR across different industries. Right now, our doe foot isn't recyclable as it's made of a different material, but we're working towards a more sustainable option for the future.

    How to recycle:

Once your Dew Blush is empty, clean out the vial and let it dry. Detach the doe-foot applicator and place in the trash —this piece is not yet recyclable. All of our secondary cartons are made from 100% post-consumer waste and FSC-certified paper. Simply toss the carton in your home recycling bin.

  • Glossybounce™

    +

    What it is:

Glossybounce™ is made out of 50% PCR (Post Consumer Resin).

    Why we chose it:

PCR, also known as Post Consumer Resin, is essentially a plastic made from recycled plastics! We love using PCR in our packaging because it means you’re giving packaging a second-life (and third and fourth… because you can recycle it again when you’re done!). It’s a little more expensive to package our products this way, but reducing waste is always worth it to us :)

    How to recycle:

Once your Glossybounce™ is empty, clean out the vial and let it dry. Detach the doe-foot applicator and place in the trash —this piece is not yet recyclable. Recycle the clean vial, rod, and cap via Pact Collective: Click here to return by mail. Click here to return via local drop off– this option is more eco-friendly!

All of our secondary cartons are made from 100% post-consumer waste and FSC-certified paper. Simply toss the carton in your home recycling bin.

  • Glow Sculpt

    +

    What it is:

Refillable 50% Post Consumer Recycled Plastic compact (PCR)

    Why we chose it:

Saie hello to our refillable compact! The Glow Sculpt compact was made to be used again and again ( helping reduce single-use plastic!). Our refill pans are made of 100% recyclable aluminum and packaged in compostable FSC recycled paper boxes.

    How to recycle:

Once you’re finished with Glow Sculpt, remove the pan by flipping over the compact and pushing a pin through the small hole. Clean out the aluminum pan and place in your home recycling bin. Refill the compact with your fave shade or try a new one! When your compact has reached the end of its life cycle, recycle via Pact Collective: Click here to return by mail. Click here to return via local drop off– this option is more eco-friendly!

  • Glowy Super Gel

    +

    What it is:

Glass bottle with removable inner pouch.

    Why we chose it:

Glass is always our first option as it's guaranteed to get recycled, however, to ensure you get every last drop of Glowy Super Gel, we had to incorporate an airless pouch. While the pouch is only recyclable via TerraCycle, our glass bottle and pump can be easily recycled at home.

    How to recycle:

Once your Glowy Super Gel is empty, twist off the plastic pump and remove the inner pouch. Clean both pieces and let them dry. Place the glass bottle in your home recycling bin. Recycle the clean plastic pump and inner pouch via Pact Collective: Click here to return by mail. Click here to return via local drop off– this option is more eco-friendly!

  • Slip Tint

    +

    What it is:

Our tube is made out of 100% Sugarcane Bioresin.

    Why we chose it:

Regular plastic is produced from fossil raw materials such as natural gas and oils and is–unfortunately–found in lots of everyday products. Instead, we chose to use a plastic made from ethanol, a carbon neutral (and renewable!) derivative of the Brazilian sugarcane plant.

Once your Slip Tint is empty, trim the end of the tube. Clean it and let it dry. Place the clean tube in your home recycling bin. Recycle the clean pump and cap via Pact Collective: Click here to return by mail. Click here to return via local drop off– this option is more eco-friendly!

Packaging the Saie Way

What are clean, sustainable formulas and recyclable components if they’re packaged and shipped in materials that aren’t mindful of our planet? We put a lot of thought into ensuring our products are clean and sustainable for our bodies and the environment, and our standards for packaging are no different.

Shipping Boxes
Our kraft mailers are biodegradable and 100% recyclable. Choose your adventure: add them to your compost bin or break them down and recycle them at home.

Cartons
Our product cartons are 100% Recycled FSC-certified paper made in a carbon-neutral facility.

Cotton Balls
Our cushy, comfy cotton balls aren’t just for removing makeup; we actually use them as padding for the inside of our packages... because who needs packing peanuts, really?

Paper Tape
We use kraft paper tape (in Saie Lilac, of course :) to safely secure all of your products in transit. The glue on the tape is made of water-activated cornstarch.
