Saie’s Morning Smoothies
Good morning! Good afternoon? Hello from the weird timescape of staying home.
Honestly, all of the days and hours (and weeks!) have felt a bit blurry at this point as we do our part to social distance and stay home. One thing that’s been making a big difference for us amidst all the crazy is kicking our days off with a nourishing smoothie and/or juice. Have just one or have both or make a big batch and drink it all day. No one’s judging! What matters right now is doing small things for yourself that make you feel good.
Here are two recipes that have consistently made us feel happy & healthy these days:
The Morning Smoothie
We love this smoothie because it’s a little bit heartier thanks to cashew butter and protein powder and it gives us all the fuel we need for a morning of stacked zoom calls before lunch.
Blend all of the ingredients on high until completely smooth. Et voila! This is a really easy smoothie to make and one that we’ve found to be super comforting and just the right amount of sweet, which we could all use at the moment.
The Green Juice
And while we’re on the topic of sweets, if you’ve found yourself baking an excess amount of treats lately (hi, guilty) with all of the extra time at home, this juice is a great way to lighten things up and make sure you’re still getting good greens into your diet. We’ll make this if we’re feeling a bit sluggish and need something to reset and invigorate our bodies.
- Add all of or most of an entire stalk of celery to your juice. We use celery as the base of this juice because it has such a high water content.
- ½ an apple. This step is optional and if you’re trying to avoid unnecessary sugar then we’d suggest skipping it!
Blend or juice the above ingredients before adding…
Blend or juice again until it’s at your desired consistency and you’ve got a greens-packed, energizing, and super refreshing juice to sip on throughout the day.
Part of why we love making these morning smoothies and juices, aside from the fact that they’re both nutrient-rich and really good for our bodies, is that the routine is giving us a little bit of structure as we start our day. Life feels pretty unpredictable right now, and even something as simple as making a morning smoothie can offer some consistency and peace as we begin a new day. Cheers!
