SAIE RECYCLING
It's not lost on us that our nation's recycling system is broken and that many items deemed "recyclable" don't actually get recycled. While the majority of our products are technically recyclable, some of them may not get sorted into the recycling system due to their small sizes. But just because there are larger issues at hand doesn't mean we won't do our best to make our earth a cleaner one! While we don't have all of the answers, this is our best solution for now...
-
Airset
+ –What it is:
Airset is made of 35% PCR (post-consumer recycled plastic).
Why we chose it:
Post Consumer Resin, also known as PCR, is plastic that's been repurposed for use again. Using PCR helps to reduce the amount of new plastic packaging. Products that use PCR drive the demand of the material, which in turn increases its overall use across different industries.
How to recycle:
Make sure your jar is empty. Remove the sifter and wipe away any remaining product from the jar. Place the cap and jar in your recycling bin. While our sifter is made of recyclable plastic, the component is too small to make it into the recycling stream.
-
Brow Butter
+ –What it is:
Our cap and vial are made of 40% PCR (Post Consumer Resin).
Why we chose it:
Post Consumer Resin, also known as PCR, is plastic that's been repurposed for use again. Using PCR helps to reduce the amount of new plastic packaging and drives the demand of the material. Right now, our spoolie isn't recyclable as it's made of a different material, but we're working towards a more sustainable option for the future.
How to recycle:
While Brow Butter's components are made of recylable materials, individual components under two inches do not typically make it through the recycling stream. Once your Saie products are empty, email us at sustainability@saiehello.com. We'll send you a shipping label, and all you have to do is drop them in the mail.
We recycle them through TerraCycle
-
Dew Balm
+ –What it is:
This tube is made out of 50% PCR (Post Consumer Resin).
Why we chose it:
Post Consumer Resin, also known as PCR, is plastic that's been repurposed for use again. Using PCR helps to reduce the amount of new plastic packaging. We chose PE (Polyethelyne) PCR for Dew Balm because it's a pliable yet durable material. Using PCR drives the demand of the material, which in turn increases its overall use across different industries.
How to recycle:
While Dew Balm's components are made of recylable materials, individual components under two inches do not typically make it through the recycling stream. Once your Saie products are empty, email us at sustainability@saiehello.com. We'll send you a shipping label, and all you have to do is drop them in the mail.

Why we chose it:
Post Consumer Resin, also known as PCR, is plastic that's been repurposed for use again. Using PCR helps to reduce the amount of new plastic packaging and drives the demand of the material. In turn, this increases the overall use of PCR across different industries. Right now, our doe foot isn't recyclable as it's made of a different material, but we're working towards a more sustainable option for the future.

Glowy Super Gel
+ –What it is:
Glass bottle with removable inner pouch.
Why we chose it:
Glass is always our first option as it's guaranteed to get recycled, however, to ensure you get every last drop of Glowy Super Gel, we had to incorporate an airless pouch. While the pouch is only recyclable via TerraCycle, our glass bottle and pump can be easily recycled at home.
How to recycle:
Once your Glowy Super Gel is empty, recycle the glass after twisting off the plastic pump and removing the inner pouch. Right now, the pump and pouch cannot be recycled.
-
Liquid Lip Balm
+ –What it is:
This tube is 100% PCR (post consumer recyled resin).
Why we chose it:
Post Consumer Resin, also known as PCR, is plastic that's been repurposed for use again. Using PCR helps to reduce the amount of new plastic packaging. The action of using PCR drives the demand of the material, which in turn increases its overall use across different industries.
How to recycle:
Simply trim the end and give it a clean out before placing it in your recycling bin as dirty packaging doesn't always get recycled.
-
Mascara 101
+ –What it is:
Right now, our Mascara 101 vial is made of virgin plastic.
Why we chose it:
While we don't like using virgin plastic, we haven't yet found an alternative for our mascara vial. We're working towards a tube with a recyclable applicator and more biodegradable packaging.
How to recycle:
Make sure your Mascara is empty! Throw away the cap, rod and spoolie – these small pieces are not recyclable. Place the vial in your recycling bin.
-
Slip Tint
+ –What it is:
Our tube is made out of 100% Sugarcane Bioresin.
Why we chose it:
Regular plastic is produced from fossil raw materials such as natural gas and oils and is–unfortunately–found in lots of everyday products. These gases and raw materials are non-renewable and greatly contribute to carbon emissions. Instead, we chose to use a plastic made from ethanol, a carbon neutral (and renewable!) derivative of the Brazilian sugarcane plant.
How to recycle:
Once your Slip Tint is empty, twist off the pump and throw in the trash – this piece is not yet recyclable. Trim the end of the tube and give it a clean out before placing it in your recycling bin as dirty packaging doesn't always get recycled.
-
Sun Melt
+ –What it is:
Sun Melt jar is made of 50% PCR (post-consumer recycled plastic).
Wipe away any remaining bronzer from the jar before placing it in your recycling bin as dirty packaging doesn't always get recycled.
-
Sunvisor
+ –What it is:
Our tube is made out of 100% Sugarcane Bioresin.

How to recycle:
Once your Sunvisor is empty, twist off the pump and throw in the trash – this piece is not yet recyclable. Trim the end of the tube and give it a clean out before placing it in your recycling bin as dirty packaging doesn't always get recycled.
The Saie Pact
We’ve teamed up with Pact Collective to make recycling your difficult-to-recycle Saie empties super easy. Pact Collective is a non-profit organization that works towards improving packaging end-of-life and circularity within the beauty industry. At their sorting facility, Pact Members sort through all packages by material type to find the best use for all materials. Here’s how it works: Give your Saie empties a thorough clean-out with water. Make sure they are truly empty, as dirty packages won’t go on to get recycled. Once you have at least five empty products, fill out the form here to receive your prepaid shipping label. Attach your shipping label to a box or envelope, and drop your package in the mail.
You can also drop off your clean empties at any of the 35 participating Sephora stores. Find the location nearest you at pactcollective.org/locations
Packaging the Saie Way
What are clean, sustainable formulas and recyclable components if they’re packaged and shipped in materials that aren’t mindful of our planet? We put a lot of thought into ensuring our products are clean and sustainable for our bodies and the environment, and our standards for packaging are no different.
Shipping Boxes
Our kraft mailers are biodegradable and 100% recyclable. Choose your adventure: add them to your compost bin or break them down and recycle them at home.
Cartons
Our product cartons are 100% Recycled FSC-certified paper made in a carbon-neutral facility.
Cotton Balls
Our cushy, comfy cotton balls aren’t just for removing makeup; we actually use them as padding for the inside of our packages... because who needs packing peanuts, really?
Paper Tape
We use kraft paper tape (in Saie Lilac, of course :) to safely secure all of your products in transit. The glue on the tape is made of water-activated cornstarch.
